Portaria is a traditional settlement of the prefecture of Magnesia, built on the western slopes of Pelion north of Volos. It is a village of Kefalochori in the area, as it has experienced great growth in the past and today it still maintains its population mainly thanks to tourism businesses. Characteristic element of Portaria are its large mansions, of Thessalian-Macedonian style with a roof of stone slabs.

Like many villages in Pelion, Portaria was created around a monastery. The monastery of Panagia Portarea (in the 13th century) where it took its name. The visitor has the opportunity to admire the wonderful natural landscape, the cool springs, the mansions, the picturesque cobbled streets and the churches.

Also, due to its location, one could with Portaria organize its holidays either in summer or in winter, since it is very close to the ski center Agriolefkes (12xm.), But also to the beaches of the Pagasitic Gulf.
